I'm the slowest replier ever. If it's still helpful at all, one easy tip really is: layers, layers and layers. I mean like don't press down extra hard on that pencil to make the darker areas, but just add soft layers on top of eachother where you need to. And then in the end i use the tip of an ereaser to make those highlighted stripes.

Hehe, it's ok. I understand. When I'm working on projects I never check messages. Just so happens that I've got physics, chemistry, math for liberal arts, literature, and two lab courses I'm doing right now, so I tend to check more often lol (brain is in overload :P)

Thanks for the tip! I think I have been pressing down pretty hard to get the darker lines now that you mention it. I'm putting that on a post-it-note for when I get to my next project in about 12 more weeks lol.
